The unique tribute “Discovering Morricone” brings new life to the music of the great Italian composer, Maestro Ennio Morricone. The presentation is further enriched by new works from his immense repertoire, many of which are lesser-known but equally as exquisite.  Not just a concert, but a journey of words, inspiration and soloistic performances that guide the audience through the decades that made Italian cinema and music exceptional.

The incredible journey begins with the melodies that have remained in the collective memory of generations with the evocative power of THE MISSION, THE LEGEND OF 1900, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, CINEMA PARADISO, THE HATEFUL EIGHT, ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS and MALENA, all of which have characterised the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra’s work in recent productions, followed by other works from THE UNTOUCHABLES, LADY CALIPH, CANONE INVERSO and INVESTIGATION OF A CITIZEN ABOVE SUSPICION with a significant focus on the great songs written for artists such as Dulce Pontes, Amii Stewart, Joan Baez and Mina in a new symphonic version.

500 sountracks, 70 million records sold worldwide, two Oscar wins and six nominations, three Grammys, four Golden Globes and a Golden Lion make Ennio Morricone an all-time musical giant. This is where the idea of the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra, a crown jewel of Italy, was born to pay homage to the great Maestro.

The Ensemble approaches Morricone’s music after significant national and international collaborations: Mario Biondi, Max Gazze, Franco Battiato, Giovanni Allevi, Renato Zero, Francesco Renga, Pooh, Baustelle, PFM, Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Nile Rodgers, Sam Smith and Luis Bacalov. With over six hundred concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Austria, the United Kingdom and Belgium, the orchestra demonstrates profound versatility and proficiency in all types of music, with a repertoire that ranges from the most famous opera arias to the soundtracks of world-famous films from “Frozen” to “Harry Potter”.

This tribute features soloists and principals from esteemed theatres and Italian symphonic institutions. Special guests include soprano Anna Delfino, a favorite of European opera audiences, who will relive the emotion of ‘Deborah’s Theme’ from “Once Upon a Time in America”, talented cellist Federico Covre with his interpretation of “Cinema Paradiso” and trumpeter Stefano Benedetti who will regale audiences with unforgettable moments such as “A Fistful of Dollars”.
