‘Inspiration Information’ – Live! Horace Andy & Ashley Beedle take their new collaborative LP on the road.
With two such talents it is hardly surprising that when Horace Andy and Ashley Beedle got together to collaborate on an album, the fruits of their labours have something of the midas touch. Inspiration Information already sounds like a classic record, a timeless piece of music that doffs its cap to modern production trends as well as classic templates, taking in dancehall, broken beat, dubstep, rocksteady and roots reggae styles, plus a cover of the Rolling Stones no less, but essentially contains the holy grail: some killer tunes.
With a singing career spanning over forty years, from his early days working with Coxsone Dodd at the Studio One label in Jamaica, through defining releases such as Skylarking and Money Is The Root Of All Evil (both bona fide classic hit records among hardcore reggae aficionados), to being THE voice of Massive Attack’s classic 1991 debut album, Blue Lines, Horace Andy is quite peerless in the music business. His distinctive voice sets him apart from everyone else in reggae and makes the experience of witnessing a live show by the great man all the more memorable.
ASHLEY BEEDLE
Ashley Beedle is similarly lauded among fans of great house and dance music, from his days as part of London’s Shock sound system, through Notting Hill Carnival and Kiss FM, to seminal productions on the Junior Boys Own label with studio outfits Black Science Orchestra, Ballistic Brothers and the Ivor Novello winning X-Press 2 (alongside fellow London house DJs Rocky & Diesel).
