& Paper Cut Rock
Joseph Malik, the ever present Edinburgh-based producer, promoter, DJ & singer has chosen to hang up his microphone after one last glorious gig performing the soul, blues, country, post-punk & folk songs that he has produced over the last 20 years.
He’ll be backed by a four piece live band, comprising hand-picked musicians he has worked with over the years. Joseph Malik first entered the music in the late 80’s as founder of The East Coast Project, and as resident DJ and co-promoter of thelegendary ‘Lizzard Lounge’ at Cafe Graffitti. As a producer / singer / songwriter, Malik encapsulates many diverse styles with his debut (singing) LP “Diverse” on Compost Records selling 40,000 copies, and tracks finding their way into cult TV shows such as “Six Feet Under”.
Since 2007, Malik has been concentrating on the underground post punk studio myspace band ‘Paper Cut Rock’. 2008 sees Joseph Malik choos to pick up the microphone one last time before concentrating on his career as a head chef. Real music for real people!
Note: Luckily for the music scene, Malik didn’t hang up his microphone for good, and is still making and performing great music – a true soul survivor.
