London’s The Urban Voodoo Machine, led by the ever-flamboyant singer/songwriter/guitar-slinger Paul-Ronney Angel will be hitting the road again in 2024 after a great run of shows last year on their 20th Anniversary Tour.
May 3rd 2024 will see the release of the single/video Carry Your Weight. The final single from their critically acclaimed 5th studio album, $nake Oi£ €ngine. This soulful rocker penned by Angel, features guest appearances from Norman Watt-Roy (Ian Dury & The Blockheads), Jennie Mattias (The Bellestars) and James Brown’s widow and backing singer Tomirae Brown.
A new album is also on the way, set for release in early summer of 2024.
Angel: After releasing 5 studio albums, several compilation albums and even an album of other artists covering OUR SONGS, we’ve decided to release an album of cover songs. The album will be called Other Peoples Children. As a songwriter, I do consider my songs my children and as these were not my children, I thought it would make a good title! Make no mistake about it though, this is very much an album by The Urban Voodoo Machine who have put their unique stamp on songs originally performed by artists as diverse as AC/DC, Ry Cooder, Glen Campbell, The Clash just to mention a few. Once again, the group have recorded with Alex McGowan at Space Eko East in London.
Angel: We’ve worked with Alex on every release and he knows our sound and we know him, so it’s a case of if it ain’t broke etc!
The Urban Voodoo Machineʼs own brand of Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues BopʼnʼStroll has swayed audiences all over the UK, US and Europe. Their fan base is constantly growing and extremely loyal. They have supported and toured with a variety of artists (many who have covered their songs) and have performed at most major festivals. In fact, they claim to be the only group in the world to have played both the historical Montreux Jazz Festival AND metal mecca festival, Download!
If you have ever caught the group live in action, it’s not likely you would have forgotten it! Part circus, part theatre with a big dose of good old Rock‘n’Roll!
