Cecil Womack and his wife Linda had a long history before the release of their first duo album in 1983.
Cecil was one of the gospel-singing Womack Brothers, who became the Valentinos, and toured with Sam Cooke in the ’60s. Linda was Cooke’s daughter.
Both Womacks were successful songwriters for performer such as Teddy Pendergrass, Wilson Lickett and Aretha Franklin prior to getting together as a performing team.
The focus is on songwriting in their collaboration; they began with their 1983 debut album ‘Love Wars’, which featured the top 40 hit ‘Baby I’m Scared of You’.
Note: Womack and Womack were a last minute replacement for the scheduled artist, Jocelyn Brown, and it was an honour to have such legendary artists perform with us at The Assembly Rooms.
